Testimonials

"As a coach, I actually learned a few things about how to handle stress and depression. We have had quite a few discussions about many of the issues covered in this workbook. We will both truly benefit from this experience."

Juvenile Probation / Detention

The New Beginnings Lifeskills Courses for juveniles and students offers both the home study format as well as groups for youth in detention. The home study format uses the Parent/Youth workbook where both the youth and parent complete the workbook together. One of the major shortfalls in juvenile probation counseling is that the parents are usually excluded from the counseling process. To try to correct problem youth and then send them back into the home, which is usually their source of problems, is counter-productive. This workbook helps to eliminate this problem by having the parent and child work together to solve their problems. The result is better relationships and understanding. ACCI has received hundreds of referrals to the youth/parent program from juvenile probation and other agencies.

Where the home study format is not feasible or juveniles are in detention, there are three levels of offender corrections and youth substance-abuse group workbooks available. Also the home study workbook can be used as a hybrid where juveniles come for counseling but take their workbooks home to be coached by their parents. You will never change youthful behavior without first challenging youth's self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. See, home study referral process.
